New scientific research reveals each baby is born with a specific skin type and need. Introducing the next generation of skincare adapted to each skin type by Mustela®.

Mustela® is the first skin care company globally to embark on a research program that analyses the physiology of babies and children’s skin from outer layers of the epidermis all the way to the deepest epidermal layers. Using advanced, non-invasive imaging technologies and the development of the world’s first reconstruction of babies and children’s skin, Mustela® researchers discovered that a baby’s skin is most fragile between birth and age of two and scientifically demonstrated babies each have different kinds of skin with different needs, deserving of its own care.

The breakthrough insight shows children are born with either: Normal skin that needs to be hydrated daily; Dry skin that needs to be hydrated and nourished, and Extremely dry/eczema-prone skin, subject to extreme dryness and sensations of itching, that needs to be hydrated, soothed and replenished daily. With this insight, Mustela® developed patented specific natural ingredients - clinically proven under dermatological and/or paediatric supervision - to be effective for each type of skin.

The ingredients in the new range include:

  • For Normal skin: Avocado Perseose®, a patented natural ingredient that deeply hydrates skin epidermis, protects the skin barrier and preserves the cellular richness of the skin.
  • For Dry skin: Avocado Perseose® and a dermo-nutritive complex that deeply nourishes the skin.
  • For Extremely dry eczema-prone skin: Avocado Perseose® and a patented natural ingredient, Sunflower Oil Distillate®, which replenishes and soothes eczema-prone skin.

Already an established brand with a global cult-like following (number 1 baby dermo-cosmetic brand in Europe), Mustela® has taken the range to the next level with this new generation of hygiene and skincare products adapted to all skin types from birth onwards. Products available, priced between $7.95 - $34.95 rrp, include Foam Shampoo for Newborn, Gentle Cleansing Gel, Body Lotion, Face Cream, , Vitamin Barrier Cream, Multi-Sensory Bubble Bath, , Travel Set, No Rinse Cleansing Water and fragrance-free skincare products like Stelatopia Emollient Cream, Stelatopia Cleansing Cream and more.

The baby skincare expert for over 60 years, Mustela® guarantees safety from birth onwards and is committed to minimising environmental impact with eco-designed products that are conscious of people and the environment at each stage of their life cycle. With a priority given to ingredients of natural origin, there are no parabens, phthalates or Phenoxyethanol. Light textures and delicate fragrances add to the appeal.

The new Mustela® bébé-enfant *range is available in Chemist Warehouse, Babies "R" Us, Amcal, Chemmart Terry White, Priceline, and all good pharmacies. To make it even easier for parents to work out what skin type is right for their baby, Mustela® has created an online 2-part skin diagnosis questionnaire. With Mustela®, it all starts with skin.

GIVE AWAY - 1 X - Tend Sleepsuit up for grabs

GIVE AWAY - 1 X - Tend Sleepsuit up for grabs

GIVE AWAY - 1  X - Tend Sleepsuit up for grabs ENTER HERE

I love this sleep suit as my son hates blankets and is a little too big to wear a sleeping bag. I can never find the matching tops and bottoms for pyjamas either - so this is the perfect solution! 3 kids and I finally have the solution for my 3rd child!

Today was the first day this school term that I have looked half decent at school drop off, you see for the past couple of weeks my 3 year old has been climbing into bed with us at all hours of the night, sleeping on me with limbs I didn't even know he had haha. As any mum who has little ones climb into bed  with them knows that you don't get a lot of sleep at all, if you are anything like me you roll out of bed in the morning, rush around to get kids ready for school and its not before you are dropping kids off and talking to other parents that you realise you didn't even brush your hair ha!

My husband and I have tried everything to get our 3 year old to stay in his bed, we noticed that since the weather has changed and gotten cooler that he has been coming in and saying that his cold. < no matter how many blankets we put on him.

So we were pretty excited when we received the X - Tend Sleepsuit in the mail, these suits are great they have removable sleeves for the warmer nights as well. The X -Tend Sleepsuit is perfect because he is not one for keeping his blankets on, hence him coming into bed with us every night.

Well what do you know the last 3 nights he has slept through, which means I have as well, which equals a happy mum

These suits really are amazing and  they are luxurious, super-soft, certified organic cotton; no polyester, no harmful chemicals and pesticides, creating a healthier option for baby – while being super practical for parents.

The X-Tend Sleepsuit is an Australian-first invention that grows with baby! Simply extend the arms and legs of the suit once the baby is ready for the next size. Boasting handy features such as removable sleeves, hand and feet mittens and two way front zippers, it’s suitable for babies 6 months up to 7 years of age. For babies 18 months and up, a unique extra-large drop seat feature makes nappy changes or middle of the night toilet stops so much more convenient. The X-Tend Sleepsuit keeps baby safe and comfortable all night without the worry of kicking off blankets.

We Review One Of The Best Play Mats on the Market - Bubba Mat

We Review One Of The Best Play Mats on the Market - Bubba Mat

I have been through a few play mats with my little ones and Bubba Mat from SoftMats are the best by far.

I remember when my daughter was little I purchased a bag of these connecting alphabet pieces that turned into a mat, all you had to do was spend 2 hours putting them together to make the mat, to only then come out half an hour later and find that your little one had pulled all the pieces apart ha! It looked great but wasn't practical at all. Then with my son we purchased the car road track mat off ebay the print was awesome but it was carpet and my son didn't think it was great for pushing his cars on , especially when there was last week's Weet - Bix squished into it still < no matter how hard I tried to get it out!

Then we got onto Bubba Mat from SoftMats, these mats are seriously amazing, Soft, safe, non-toxic, comfortable for the kids and mum and dad, and simply wipes clean making it ideal for growing families.

But what I  love most about Bubba Mat is the fact that it is reversible, I love the Bubba Mat actually grows with your child. Take the 'Urban' BubbaMat below for instance. One side you have town and road set, and a train line with alphabet and numbers, which is perfect for a little one, and the other side has a more contemporary feel that can be turned over when you have visitors, it can even be used in a teenagers room. The fact that the Bubba Mat doesnt out date is a real winner in my opinion.

We use our BubbaMat for everything, we have taken it camping, to the park for a picnic, and to the beach. simply wipe clean when finished and then straight into the car. At least some stage throughout the day I can guarantee my children have sat on the Bubba mat.

The mats are great for sitting on, eating on, doing crafts on it really is very versatile.

Bubba mat is the perfect gift for any aged child.

I wish I had found these sooner, it would have saved me a lot of mess!

Help Save the enviroment with Hippybottomus Cloth Nappies!

Help Save the enviroment with Hippybottomus Cloth Nappies!

To be honest when I had my children I didn't even consider cloth nappies, the thought of using pins to secure a nappy sort of frightened me as a first time mum. I was one of those mums who was scared at first to hold my baby in fear of dropping them so I definitly didnt want t go anywhere near them with a pin. I talked myself into it being ok to use disposable nappies as I was also a busy working mum and would need the convenience of disposable nappies, and the time I saved washing would give me more time with my little one. Up until this point I only thought there were 2 options with nappies, disposable and cloth with pins.

Then I  came across a business called Hippybottomus that designed cloth nappies that weren't only easy to use < button clips not pins, but they are also great for the environment.

We tried the nappies and loved them instantly. My little one was a lot more comfortable in them then the  disposables. I had noticed that from time to time my baby would get a little red around the sides of hips where the sticky tabs where on the disposable nappy but using Hippybottomus nappies stopped this.

I thought that using cloth nappies would be a lot more work, but honestly it isn't and the money you save on buying disposables is so worth it. We were spending at least $30 a week on nappies. Now the money we save on disposable nappies we can use on other things for our little one.

I love that the Hippybottomus nappies comes in a load of gorgeous colours and are super soft and absorbent, but what I love even more is for every nappy you buy Hippybottomus also donates a nappy to a child in need around the world < how awesome is that! You can read more about their "YOU DONATE WE DONATE" initiative here.

Some of the awesome features of Hippybottomus are:

Natural fabric – against the skin is a layer of white bamboo fleece, which is anti-bacterial (& mildew resistant), has great ventilation, helps reduce odours, and is really soft. It is also anti-pilling and anti-fuzzing, so it washes really well. This fabric is far superior to the synthetic fabrics generally used in stay-dry nappies. It is also known to generate anions, which are very beneficial to bub’s health (they activate the bodies cells, purify the blood, help tiredness, calm the nervous system & improve allergies)

Stays dry against the skin – Bamboo micro-polar fleece has the ability to draw moisture away from the skin, keeping your baby dry and helping prevent nappy rash. All moisture is drawn into the insert.

Pocket design – a removable insert is placed inside the shell which allows you to separate the two parts for thorough washing and to speed up drying. It also allows you to add an extra insert or two of a nighttime to increase absorbency (meaning no midnight nappy changes).

Highly absorbent – each nappy comes with one insert which is made up of 2 layers of bamboo fleece and 3 layers of microfibre, which are both highly absorbent fabrics.

Waterproof – the combination of the layer of PUL (polyurethane laminate) and the polyester outer makes this nappy as waterproof as they come, so no cover is required.  From our previous nappies we have concluded that this is the best outer fabric in terms of containing moisture and preventing wicking.

Fast drying – the fabrics that make up the nappy allow it to dry extremely fast (1-2 hours with wind and sun and within a day if not).

One size fits most – each nappy can be adjusted to fit from birth (3kg) through to toilet training (17 kg) so there is no need to buy a whole new set of nappies as your baby grows. There are also two rows of snaps for a snug fit around the thighs and the waist as your  baby grows. The snaps are also nice and sturdy so won’t catch in the wash or wear over time like velcro can.

Easy – no folding or pins and no soaking is required (see how to use for more info) which make our modern cloth nappies just as easy to pop on as a disposable and really simple to wash (especially if you use a flushable bamboo nappy liner to collect the solids).

Great price – one of our main objectives at Hippybottomus is to provide an affordable price whilst maintaining the quality. We do this by keeping things simple, doing all of our web design and marketing ourselves and by only taking a very small profit margin. As an Australian company we also offer quick and friendly customer service and advice.

We highly recommend if you have little ones in nappies to give Hippybottomus a go, you wont be disappointed!

Certified Organic, Free from major allergens & Sugar FREE! - Why we love Baby Mum - Mum!

Certified Organic, Free from major allergens & Sugar FREE! - Why we love Baby Mum - Mum!

Before I had kids I was always going to be that mum that only  ever fed their kids organic no nasty foods. My kids would eat nothing with sugar and would be blissful little sunny humans . I thought I would make my own baby food from scratch and all would be bliss < Ha!

I soon found out pretty quick that I was flat out actually getting dinner on table then creating preservative  free foods for my little one. I try my best but let's face it we don't always grab the best snacks for our kids and often give into their demands of wanting something they shouldn't.

It is easier when they are babies as they are happy to try new foods and are not as fussy so kids tend to eat more veggies and things that are good for them, there is no fighting for them to eat something that is healthy as opposed to a 3 yr old who won't even look at anything green.

I knew if I didn't have time to make preservative free snacks for my baby that hopefully there was a company out there that did. I went in search and soon found an awesome company Baby Mum - Mum.

Baby Mum - Mum make a variety of baby rusks, that contain no nasties , babies love them and mums love knowing that their little ones aren't eating anything that they shouldn't be.

They are free of all the major allergens, milk, wheat, shell fish, fish, peanuts, soy, sesame, tree nuts and wheat. But what really sold me on Baby Mum - Mum was the fact that they have been developed with  food nutritionist specialists. They are also used  by day care centres and hospitals.

It can be scary when your little one first starts to try new foods you don't know if they will have any reactions to certain foods, so it definitely puts the mind at ease knowing that the major allergen foods are not added to Baby Mum - Mum products.

Baby Mum - Mum rusks come in 6 flavours and are certified organic.

But best of all my Baby loves them! So now I know I can give my baby a snack without feeling guilty, it sure does beat an arrowroot biscuit!

We highly recommend you try them for your little one, you won't be disappointed, to find a stockist near you click here: Baby Mum - Mumstockists.

Fun In The Sun Reviewing Plum Swimwear!

Fun In The Sun Reviewing Plum Swimwear!

My kids are fish, they literally spend most of the summer swimming, you can guarantee on any given day if I ask them  what they want to do the answer is always either the beach or pool.

We have the best of both worlds in Sydney, we have great beaches and we also have some fantastic  indoor swimming pools for the days that Sydney weather is temperamental, which means the kids can swim all year round.

My little ones seem to outgrow swimmers yearly so I was really excited when Plum gifted us their swimmers out of their latest range for us to try.

Plum is an Australian label and is the leader in kids swimwear worldwide, that is pretty impressive right?

What makes Plum so great is the fact that they are not only on trend with their designs ranging from nautical, vintage and bright themes but they also have UPF 50+ protection from the sun, which is super important for our little ones in the Australian weather.

Their range is endless and includes the following;

•Swim Nappy

•Bikini

•Halter-Necked One Piece

•Rash Vests &Shorts

•All-In-One Swimsuit

•Swimming Trunks

•Legionnaires Hats

•Board Shorts

What surprised me the most was how well the swimmers were made, the quality is fantastic and they are very affordable and range in sizes from 000 to 7. They make perfect gifts especially for their price point. I know what I am getting the nieces and nephews for Christmas this year!

10 Tips For keeping Sane While Grocery Shopping With kids

10 Tips For keeping Sane While Grocery Shopping With kids

There is no denying that grocery shopping, or any type of shopping for that matter can be difficult with kids. But we all need to eat, so grocery shopping is a necessary part of life, no matter how much we don't want to do it. There is the option to go alone, but thats not always possible, and sometimes its good to teach kids that everyday activities can be fun too!

1. Take snacks

Snacks are always a great way to keep kids occupied and happy, and trips to the supermarket are no exception. Take foods that take a while to eat and don't make a mess; something that will keep the kids sitting in the trolley the entire shop if possible.

2. Avoid nap time shopping trips

Depending on your child, shopping during nap time might be asking for trouble. Shopping once kids have had a nap and are relaxed is going to make the whole experience a whole lot easier.

3. Shop when its quiet

If you can help it, its always easier to shop with young kids when the supermarket is quieter. It can be much harder to keep kids calm when there is so much going on around them.

4. Chose supermarkets with toilet facilities nearby

If you have a toddler or pre schooler who is toilet trained or in the process of toilet training, choose a supermarket with toilet facilities close by. A parents room within the shopping complex is a bonus, especially if you have a baby and need access to a change table or feeding room.

5. Adjust your expectations

Don't head into the grocery store with expectations that you will quickly be in and out with no fuss.  Shopping doesn't have to be a race. Expect that shopping will take a little longer with young kids in tow, and there will probably be a bit of whining along the way. If you head to the supermarket with a relaxed mindset there is a good chance the shopping trip will go a whole lot smoother.

6. Make shopping a game

Make a game out of shopping and it will make the trip much more enjoyable for everyone. You could play a game of i-spy while walking around the supermarket, or ask kids that are old enough to take the items you need off the shelf and add them to the trolley. Older kids can read the prices on the shelf to work out which product is cheaper, and cross items off the shopping list as you go. It makes kids feel like they are important and part of the shopping process when they are given their own jobs. You can also use it as an opportunity to teach your kids about healthy food choices and nutrition.

7. Shop after a meal

Kids (along with some adults) get cranky when they are hungry, so shopping is never a good idea when it's been a while since the last meal. The best time to shop is soon after a meal when the kids are full and happy.

8. Always have a list

Its extremely hard to think straight while you are trying to keep young kids happy, so write a list of everything you need, plus how many of each item. Its even better if you can write your list in isle order, to avoid having to go backward and forward in the supermarket trying to find items you missed. It also means there is less chance of having to go back to the supermarket the next day because you forgot something.

9. Prepare kids beforehand

In the car on the way to the supermarket, have a little talk with kids that are old enough, letting them know what you will be doing and how you expect them to behave. Something like we are going to do the grocery shopping, you can walk if you are going to walk beside me, otherwise you will be sitting in the trolley.

10. Grocery shop online

If all else fails and shopping in your local supermarket proves to be too difficult, switch to online shopping. You can then shop any time of the day or night and have the groceries delivered to your door.

Do you take your kids grocery shopping with you or do you prefer to do alone?

We Review Bespoke Baby's Unique Nappy Clutch!

We Review Bespoke Baby's Unique Nappy Clutch!

Over the past couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to test a new nappy clutch. Bespoke Baby's nappy clutch is small enough to clip to the belt loop of your jeans and run out the door with baby in your arms. This clutch lives in my baby bag, containing everything I need to do a change nappies, baby wipes, plastic bags, hand sanitiser, a spare bodysuit and disposable change mats plus I manage to get my wallet and phone in there too. The clutch has two internal pockets and a durable external zipper which keep everything organised and safe from falling out. The soft, vibrate fabric stretches to ensure that you can fit in that little bit extra. As a busy mum running around all day with my older daughter and unlike other clutches in this one I can fit in everything I need for at least 4 changes and often up to 7 changes. This means that I do not have to restock this clutch every time I go back to the car.

As you can see from the photos it comes in a funky design which doesn't really look like your traditional change stations. The best thing about it is that it clips to just about anything, including the pram. My partner has also stopped complaining about our big bulky baby bag that is way to feminine for him. At $28.95 it is also one of the most affordable nappy clutches on the market and ABC card members get an extra 10% off. This is a great baby shower gift, I know that I am going to be getting one for any expecting mums in my life.

Making Mums Life Easier, With Skip Hop Pronto Baby Change Mat!

Making Mums Life Easier, With Skip Hop Pronto Baby Change Mat!

Some of you might know that I have a new baby boy, little AJ. Over the last 10 weeks I have been lucky enough to test some new baby products that are designed to make life for mum/dad and bub a little easier. I will be posting these reviews and give-aways in the coming weeks. If you know a new mum or mums with a new baby share this page with them so that they can enter our giveaways.

The Skip Hop Pronto Change Station is a funky change wallet, which comes in a variety of pattern colours. This has been a great addition to my baby bag and comes in handy for short trips to the shops and the daily school run when I don’t want to be carrying my bulking baby bag along. It is a compact change wallet that carries all the essentials, keys, wallet, phone as well as nappies, creams and wipes (with a translucent wipes case included).  I use the strap with the clip to hang it on my stroller or around my wrist when I have baby in the sling.

I have to say my favourite feature is the extra wide removable change mat. It is easy to use, wipes clean and includes a head cushion which keeps baby safe and comfy. The mat zips off so when baby is grown up use wallet section as a toiletry bag.

This really is a great buy at $49.95 and if you want to find out more you can visit www.haggusandstookles.com.au

5 Affordable Gifts every expecting mum will love

5 Affordable Gifts every expecting mum will love

Do you know someone expecting a little bundle of joy soon? We have put together  5 of the best gifts that we know any mother would love to receive. we aren't talking about cute onesies and teddy bears these are gifts that will really make a new mum feel special.

Cleaner

The gift of cleaning who wouldn't love this? I would almost pop out another baby just to have a

cleaner come to the home <jokes.

Let's face it those first few weeks/ months can be a blur and the cleaning often gets put on the back burner, especially with mums with more than one little one at home.

You can get a cleaner for as little as $50 for 2 hours and it makes a perfect gift. Clean floors and bathrooms are bliss for a new mum. It is also great for a mum who has had a caesarean as they are less likely to be able to clean in those first few weeks. You can find plenty of good cleaners on gum tree, ask for references and negotiate rates, a lot work for cash and are happy to accommodate. You can make your own gift voucher and staple the cleaners business card to it and pop in a card

Hair & Beauty

I don't know about you but during pregnancy my hair is amazing, beautiful, shiny and healthy and then as soon as the little one pops out it's like I am Alaskan dog shedding hair everywhere. There is nothing better than getting a hair treatment, trim and blow dry. Youcan pick up salon package deals from as little as $30 and any mum will love it, better still offer to watch the little one while she goes and has it done. You could do a massage or a facial as other options as well depending on your budget. Keep and eye out on Cudos and Groupon who have great hair deals too.

A Shower

A shower you say huh? I am sure any mum can relate that once you have kids a shower is sacred it's like the time out you need to recharge, but the thing is they aren't always easy to have especially with a new born, and toddlers, trying to shower between feeds and keeping little ones entertained. This is a great gift especially if you are a close friend and don't have much cash, write in a card that you are available for babysitting duty when the mum feels like she needs time out a good shower or a long bath, this seems so simple but to a mum it is bliss!

Cooked Meals

Everyone loves a home cooked meal especially when someone else makes it. Why not make some meals that can easily be frozen and drop them off as a gift. Any mum would love this after all who doesn't want a night off cooking. Also mums tend to forget about themselves and not eat  as much as they should when first home, partly from exhaustion.

The Gift of Savings

We all know how expensive a baby can be with everything from nappies, clothes and equipment the list goes on. Why not give the gift of savings? Did you know that Australian Baby card saves an average of $1000 for Australian parents a year?
